"About two years ago, I was enjoying a day out on Anna Maria Island. I was headed home when a young woman crossed two lanes of traffic and slammed into my car..."
She had been texting and driving and just didn’t see me. In the accident, my knee was slammed against the inside of the center console so hard I ended up needing a total knee replacement.
Initially, I tried to tough it out, to look at other options, but the pain in my knee was so severe I just couldn’t take it anymore. They ask you about pain on a scale of one to ten? I was at a ten-plus for weeks. During the process with my medical care, they tried to say a pre-existing knee condition contributed to the injury, but Christina would not let it go. She just told me ‘Don’t worry about it, I got this,’ and you know what? She absolutely did!
At one point, I had to go back home to Michigan, and I thought that would be a problem having to deal with all my medical care, the surgery, recovery and everything. Nope. Christina said, ‘We’re still right here with you,’ so it was no big deal. I was able to go back home, get the medical work I needed done there. Even though I was on the other side of the country, it really felt like she was right there. The communication with her and her staff was outstanding, always there when I had a question or a concern, or if there were any issues with receiving the care I needed.
When I think about all the pain I was in, all the decisions that had to be made both in Florida and in Michigan, I’m so glad I had Christina on my side. I didn’t have to worry about a thing but getting better, because whatever came up – insurance issues, doctor problems, medical bills, whatever – I just sent it to Christina, and she took care of it.
Plus, the settlement turned out to be way better than I anticipated.
